Rocket crockett to fire up for energy in 2018
Energy Signs DePaul University’s James Crockett
Energy Basketball is thrilled to announce its first import signing for the 2018 BigV Season, with James Crockett (DePaul University) to join the Division 1 Men next year. In his senior season at DePaul, James averaged 11.9pts, 3.1rebs and 1.4 steals per game. In just 4 games for Hopsi Polzela in the Slovenian League (2015/2016), Crockett scored 21pts per game shooting at 64% from the field.
Crockett leaves DePaul with an impressive rap: started all 32 games in his senior year, one of four players to average in double-figures, 52nd all-time highest point’s scorer for DePaul Blue Demons, ninth all-time 3pt scorer, and the 18th player in history to make 100 career three-pointers.
On coming to Australia, James says “Australia has always been a place that I have wanted to visit, and I am excited to be playing in such a respected country.”
Energy D1M Coach Jason Sutherland believes that Crockett is a great choice for the club, “He will be a great fit for the team as well as the wider Gippsland basketball community,” and says it is a combination of Crockett’s ability to score and defend that caused the club to sign him, “he is a very athletic scorer, but also prides himself on his defence.”
Crockett himself is excited to join the team, telling us that he is looking forward to being a part of the Energy Basketball family. “I’m excited to be meeting my new teammates that I will be going to war with on the court.”
James Crockett will arrive in Australia on February 3rd 2018 ahead of the BigV Season which commences in March. Until then, Crockett will just have to patiently wait to join Energy’s war for the 2018 BigV Division 1 Men’s title.
